Our Story: A Hometown Beginning

At Hassayampa Veterinary Services, our roots are as local as they come. Founded in 2012 by a veterinarian (Dr. Joanne Ruisi) who grew up right here in our community, the practice was built from the ground up with one goal in mind: to provide honest, compassionate care to the animals who do so much for us. What began as mobile equine work soon evolved into a full-service clinic for pets of all kinds—driven by a genuine love for animals and a strong commitment to doing what’s right.

Room to Grow, Space to Heal

In 2021, we took a big step forward by purchasing a 10,000-square-foot hospital on 7 spacious acres. This expansion gave us the opportunity to invest in advanced equipment rarely found in local practices, ensuring we could offer a wider range of diagnostics and treatments under one roof. But it wasn’t just about getting bigger—it was about growing with purpose. Our space is designed for calm, comfort, and continuity of care, so pets and their people can feel at ease every time they visit.

A Different Kind of Veterinary Experience

We’re not here to sell you something you don’t need. We’re here to partner with you in your animal’s health. At Hassayampa, we think creatively to solve problems and provide custom care plans that fit your animal—not a corporate protocol. Our team brings both heart and skill to every exam room, every farm call, and every conversation. We’re proud to be a veteran and locally owned practice that believes in building trust through transparency, not pressure.

We also hold a Cat Friendly Practice certification, using low-stress handling techniques and feline-friendly spaces to create a better experience for our cat patients. While we practice many elements of Fear Free care, we have not labeled ourselves as such—because here, kindness and patience are simply part of our everyday approach.

Where Compassion Meets Capability

At Hassayampa Veterinary Services, we offer the full spectrum of care—from wellness care and complex diagnostics, to surgeries and equine dentistry. But what makes us truly unique is the way we deliver it: with authenticity, with empathy, and with a deep sense of connection to the people and animals we serve.

We invite you to experience a different kind of veterinary care—one that’s rooted in community and guided by heart.
